A doctor facing a series of sexual misconduct allegations including having sex with multiple women at his Swindon surgery once made an appearance on Channel 4's First Dates, it has been revealed.

Dr Thomas Plimmer has been involved in an ongoing Medical Practitioner's Tribunal Service hearing after being accused by six women of sexual impropriety, sexual assault and rape.

In footage that is included in season 13, episode 1, of the hit dating show, a preview of Dr Thomas Plimmer's date can be seen, where he tells her he's a GP before asking her 'do you have a rash that needs looking at?'

In another clip, he confesses to her that he has 'cheated' in the past, much to her shock and dismay.

But the full interaction, which was filmed in 2018 at a time when Dr Plimmer was allegedly in sexual long-term relationships with at least three women, never made it to air.

It is unknown why this is the case, but one former partner of the medical practitioner says that he told her it was because his 'employer had asked for it not to be shown'.

She said: "I asked him once if he'd ever seen First Dates, and he replied 'Well, yeah, I was on it'

"Later he told me that his work had intervened, as they didn't want him to talk about certain things on television."

During his tribunal, the panel heard how Dr Plimmer would have several relationships with women at the same time, and he would often lie in order to keep this a secret from them, including making up illnesses for his mother and brother.

One former partner claims that, at the time of the First Dates filming, he was in long-term relationships with at least three people, none of whom knew he was planning to appear on the show as someone who was 'single'.

They said: "What I find fascinating, is that he parades himself around, and seems extremely proud of what he’s doing – it seems very odd to me to do that when you have so many relationships at home, as if you want to get caught, I don’t know how much more obvious you can be than going on Channel 4."

The diagnosed sex addict has denied the allegations of serious sexual assault and rape, but he did confess to 'shameful behaviour' regarding his multiple relationships.

The tribunal remains ongoing.
