Swindon’s iconic Magic Roundabout has been featured on a popular primetime quiz show.
The notorious junction was the answer to an important question on an episode of ITV’s The Chase, which aired at 5pm on Monday, October 2.
Nick from London, who works in online advertising, had successfully navigated his first two questions when he faced Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis on the ITV quiz show.
But the 30-year-old was then posed the question about one of Swindon’s most famous landmarks.
Presenter Bradley Walsh asked: “The towns of Swindon and Hemel Hempstead are famous for having a complicated type of what road feature?”
The options given were bridge, level crossing and, of course, roundabout.
While Nick was not familiar with Swindon’s Magic Roundabout, fortunately for him he had navigated Hemel Hempstead’s namesake during his driving test and was able to successfully answer the question.
Thanks to his roundabout knowledge, Nick was able to narrowly escape the chaser and added £5,000 to his team’s prize pot.
Nick was joined in the final round by Jane from Llanelli as the pair attempted to win £8,000 in their face off with The Menace.
They set a target of 12 but left the show empty-handed after their score was hunted down by the chaser with just 24 seconds left on the clock.
