A school in Swindon has been rated 'Outstanding' by inspectors for the second time running.
Rodbourne Cheney Primary School in Broadway, Swindon was visited by Ofsted inspectors in July 2023 and rated Outstanding in every area.
The school was last inspected in 2010, and this is the first time that Ofsted has visited since Rodbourne Cheney joined the multi-academy trust The White Horse Federation.
In their recent report, inspectors praised the school, saying: “There is a relentless drive to ensure all pupils receive an outstanding education.
“The curriculum supports all pupils, including those with SEND, to produce work of a high quality and develop a depth of understanding.
“From Nursery to Year 6, pupils blossom at Rodbourne Cheney Primary School.”
Ofsted inspectors particularly picked out the school’s nursery, which they say creates a great foundation for children progressing into the main school.
“As soon as children join Nursery, routines are established and children get off to a great start.
“In the early years, children learn how to take turns and share, and then this continues throughout all year groups. Pupils are enthusiastic learners, conscientious and hard-working, and this reflects the high-quality work they produce.”
The report also praises the school’s emphasis on reading from an early age, which it describes as a ‘golden thread’ that runs through every aspect of the curriculum.
Speaking about the result, Lisa Davies, Principal of the primary and nursery school in North Swindon said: “This result is a testament to the incredible work of our staff, who go the extra mile every day to provide the best possible education for every pupil.
“The inspection also speaks to the wonderful community of parents and carers who contribute so much to our school community, and last but not least, all our amazing pupils.”
Backing up this statement, inspectors wrote: “Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school, describing it as ‘fantastic’ and would ‘recommend it in a heartbeat.’
“Leadership is outstanding, and all staff share leaders’ vision for excellence in pupils’ academic, social and emotional success."
One key area that inspectors picked out and praised was the school’s initiative to push and grow leadership skills among the older pupils.
"In Year 6, all pupils have a role and responsibility either as a subject ambassador, head boy and girl, or as sports leaders
“Children are proud to be part of the school ‘family’, and pupils excel in the many opportunities to develop their learning beyond the classroom,” the report reads.
