A new restaurant in Swindon has received a poor food hygiene report just months after opening.
Stax & Snax is a diner-style eatery on Regent Street in the town centre which opened its doors in June earlier this year.
The restaurant offers a variety of both hot and cold food with burgers and sandwiches on the menu as well as a variety of shakes and sides.
Despite only being in the town since the summer, Snax & Stax received a lowly two-out-of-five hygiene score following an inspection on Wednesday, September 13.
Swindon Borough Council’s Environmental Health team found the premises to be requiring improvement, subsequently awarding it the poor rating.
The report deemed that “improvement [was] necessary” regarding the restaurant’s cleanliness and condition of both the building and facilities.
This refers to Stax & Snax having the appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
Both the hygienic handling of food and management of food safety at the location were classed as only being generally satisfactory rather than good.
This refers to the restaurant’s preparation and cooking of food as well as evidence that staff know about food safety and that checks are in place to ensure the food served is safe to eat.
