A longstanding piece of Swindon's town centre now has a bold new look.
Nationwide Building Society has spruced up its storefront on Regent Street as part of the Swindon-based business' brand revamp, which comes with a different logo and an extension of a Branch Promise which vows to keep existing branches open until at least 2026.
The building society, with headquarters on Pipers Way, unveiled the latest version of its logo, which simplifies the old version by removing the white border, making the lettering all lowercase, changing the font, and getting rid of the words 'Building Society'.
The red which used to appear as a thick line below Nationwide's name is now used to paint a silhouette of a sun setting behind the house, similar to the illustration which adorned the previous iconography.
The classic blue background has been swapped out for a dark blue that borders on purple instead.
A Nationwide spokesperson said: "As a modern mutual we should be modern in everything we do. So, we’re updating our logo and how we look.
"But not what makes us different.
"Unlike banks, we're not owned by shareholders. We’re owned by our members. Which means we always focus on what’s best for them."
