A man has been charged with speeding at 63 miles per hour on the M4.

Paul Bowell of Knowlands in Highworth is said to have been driving along the M4 between Junction 16 and Junction 15 on the eastbound carriageway when he was caught at 63mph, above the temporary speed limit of 50mph.

The charge states this took place on September 19, 2020, and that he also exceeded the temporary speed limit on September 17 of the same year.

Bowell was allegedly driving a Ford Transit at the time.

A second charge alleges that he exceeded the 40mph speed limit on the M32 in Bristol on July 5, 2022. It is claimed he was caught travelling at 51mph near Junction 3 in the city centre.

Bowell is further charged with failing to respond the Avon & Somerset Police regarding the identity of a driver believed to be guilty of an offence in 2020, and again in 2022.

The 59-year-old's case was heard at Aldershot Magistrates Court on August 30, 2023.

Bowell has not entered a plea, the case has been adjourned for Bowell to complete a statutory declaration form and he is set to appear back at the same court on November 1.
