Swindon's Primark store in the town centre suddenly closed.
On Wednesday, surprised shoppers found that they could not go inside the Regent Street shop.
The budget-friendly clothing retailer remained off-limits to customers for hours but reopened in the late afternoon.
A Primark spokesperson revealed the cause of the closure.
They said: "Earlier today we experienced technical issues with our till network which meant we had to temporarily close our Swindon store.
"The issue has been resolved and the store has now reopened.
"We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused."
