A Himalayan restaurant in Swindon has climbed to the peak of food hygiene after a recent inspection.
Yak The Himalayan Kitchen of Devizes Road in Old Town was visited by Swindon Borough Council’s Environmental Health team on Tuesday, September 26.
Inspectors were happy with what they found, classing the restaurant’s hygiene as “very good” and handing it a five-out-of-five rating.
Staff at the eatery were pleased with the top score which they believe they worked hard to achieve.
“I think it makes us stand out in Swindon and it’s another Old Town restaurant with a high score,” said one of the waiters.
“It was very hard work to get the five but completely worth it now that we have it.
“It is definitely important to make sure the hygiene is top level and so that it raises the profile of the restaurant.”
The report found their hygienic handling of food including reparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage to be very good.
This was the same for the cleanliness and condition of facilities which includes having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control.
Management of food safety was also the same showing that checks are in place to ensure that food served is safe to eat and that there is evidence that staff know about food safety.
