Swollen rivers in Swindon have forced the closure of one of the town’s schools.
Rivers across the town have swollen on Friday morning after heavy rainfall in the early hours as well as throughout Thursday night.
The River Cole in Covingham as well as Dorcan Brook have all started to rise with flood alerts in place after being issued by the government.

As a result, one of Swindon’s schools has been forced to close for the whole of Friday with fears over rising water levels.

The Dorcan Academy located on St Paul’s Drive announced that it would not reopen until next week given the results of the heavy rainfall.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Due to the level of flooding already in the car park area and the flood alert level for Dorcan Brook, regretfully we have made the decision to close the school today.
"Any students that do arrive will register and be allowed to stay until we know they have permission from parents/carers to go home."
The rainfall has also caused several roads in the area to become flooded and, in some cases, submerged.
Blackmore Close and Peregrine Close are two of the worst affected in Covingham with both having large sections of flooding on the road.
