PLANS have been revealed for a new digital screen inside the County Ground.
A planning application has been made by James Watts, commercial manager of Swindon Town Football Club, to install the screen in the gap between the corner of the Don Rogers Stand and the Stratton Bank
Specifications for the screen show that it will be made up of thirty panels measuring 960mm by 960mm combined together to make an LED screen the size of 27.648 square metres.
The specifications also show that the screen will have a brightness of 6,000 nits.
This is roughly three times as bright as most modern televisions, but within the normal range of a typical outdoor LED display.
The council initially responded to the application with an invalidity letter as there was not sufficient information for the plans to be fully considered by its planning department.
Consequently, the club has further clarified in the planning documents that the screen will be used as an electronic advertising board to display a number of products and services available to buy or rent, and not for anything else.
It also provided further information, after the council's request, about where the screen will be located, and who the applicant of the planning application was.
