Flood alerts have been issued across Wiltshire with rivers rising as Storm Ciarán hits the county.

There was heavy rainfall overnight on Wednesday evening into Thursday morning which has led to several roads being flooded.

Rivers throughout Wiltshire are set to also be hit by the adverse weather conditions with the level of the River Ray in Rodbourne deemed as high.

Meanwhile, the River Cole in Lower Stratton is also high, at a height of 3.05m and just 30cm below the level where property flooding is possible, according to the Environment Agency.

Just outside of Swindon the River Thames and its small tributaries are set to affect the area from Lechlade to Calcutt, as well as tributaries on the Upper River Thames above Cricklade and the River Churn and its tributaries, near Somerford Keynes.

A flood alert has been issued for the Upper Bristol Avon, which covers a wide area including Malmesbury, Royal Wootton Bassett, Chippenham, Corsham and Calne, all the way to just north of Melksham.

The Mid Bristol Avon, which covers the stretch between Melksham to just north of Trowbridge, through Bradford on Avon and over to Market Lavington, is also affected.

An alert has also been issued for the River Nadder and its tributaries, which affects part of Salisbury and villages to the west.
