A Swindon school sent its boy’s football team to play at one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Highworth Warneford School of Shrivenham Road recently took a trip to Germany to visit the home of FC Bayern Munich.
The trip commenced on Wednesday, October 18 and saw 50 boys and six staff members stay in the Olympic Park region of Munich until Tuesday, October 24.
Swindon’s cohort participated in four training sessions with Bayern coaches including three at Säbener Straße, the first team training ground.
On the first day, the boys trained on a pitch alongside the first team and even spotted England captain Harry Kane.
The boys also watched two matches including Bayern Munich's second team and RB Salzburg as well as playing three games against German sides.
The U13s won 6-3 against Interkulturale, the U14s won 7-1 against Interkulturale, and the U16s lost 4-0 to the Bayern Munich Global Academy.
David Gibbons, Deputy Head of PE, said: “As teachers, we were overwhelmed by the breadth of experiences our students were offered, and by the quality of those experiences.
“We were particularly touched by the fact that the Bayern coaches were so invested in our students that they stayed beyond the end of their sessions to support the players' efforts during their fixtures.”
