Two people have appeared in court following an alleged sexual assault in Old Town.
Nikhil Chopra and Aryan Choudhary entered pleas to the charges against them at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, November 10.
Chopra, 20, of Walsall, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and indecent exposure while Mr Choudhary, 21, of no fixed abode in Swindon, pleaded not guilty to sexual assault.
Both defendants have now been remanded in custody until their next court appearances, which are due to take place in the new year.
Nikhil Chopra will be sentenced for his crimes and Aryan Choudhary will stand trial.
Exact dates for the sentencing and trial have not yet been confirmed.
This relates to an incident on Hoopers Place that is said to have occurred at around 1.30am on September 3, when officers were flagged down by a member of the public who had concerns about a woman’s safety.
The defendants were arrested and charged in relation to this incident within the 48 hours that followed, as police stepped up patrols in the area to reassure concerned residents.
