A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police has said: “Fortunately, the woman was not injured but was left incredibly shaken.”

While a description of the man has not been provided, the woman believes the person may have been loitering at the same spot, the previous morning on Sunday, November 12.

Det Con Laura Barwood said: “We understand this incident will cause concern amongst the local community but please be reassured we are carrying out extensive enquiries.

"We know this cycle track is well used by local people and we would urge anyone who was in the area on Sunday morning, or this morning, who believes they may have seen somebody acting suspicious, to call police immediately.

"We'd also urge residents in Monkton Park living near to the River Avon to check their doorbell cameras for any footage which could be significant to our investigation.”
