Burglars caused criminal damage after breaking into the Oasis Leisure Centre and stealing equipment, police have said.

In the early hours of Monday, November 13, two men tried to rip the alarm centre off the wall of the Hawksworth Way building and damaged motion sensors on-site, according to detectives.

The pair are then said to have left the scene with stolen garden maintenance equipment, which included hedge cutters, four streamers, a leaf blower, and a harness strap.

Police have released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in relation to this incident and are asking for the public’s help to identify the duo.

Anyone with information can get in touch by calling 101 and quoting crime reference number 54230119897, or calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The leisure centre closed in October 2020 and since then, multiple break-ins have been reported.

This led to extra security measures being put in place in an attempt to deter criminal activity.

This week, Swindon Borough Council members will discuss a plan to sell the Oasis and the land adjacent to it to SevenCapital for £6 million.

The developer would then have to get the facility fully refurbished and appoint a company to manage it.
