The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this month.

LYDIARD: Megan Edwards, of Wilmot Close, has been sentenced for an offence involving her pet.

The 32-year-old changed her plea from not guilty to guilty regarding a charge that alleged she was in charge of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that was dangerously out of control in Lydiard Park on April 27, 2023.

She must pay £500 in compensation, which will be deducted from her benefits.

TOWN CENTRE: Richard Leighton, of Corporation Street, has been sentenced for a driving-related offence.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath sample for analysis after being required to do so by by police who suspected him of driving a vehicle in Swindon on September 4, 2023.

He has been banned from driving for 24 months, fined £200, given a community order with six months of alcohol treatment and up to 20 rehab activity days, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

TOWN CENTRE: Kieren Wheeler, of Radnor Street, has been sentenced for two offences.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress to a person in Swindon and sending a victim an offensive, indecent or obscene message on November 28, 2022,

He has been fined a total of £200 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

WALCOT: Sarah Barnes, of Redruth Close, has been sentenced for theft.

The 45-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge but was later found guilty of stealing £120 in cash which belonged to a Swindon woman on March 28, 2023.

The defendant must pay the money back in compensation along with £300 in court costs.

SWINDON: Leon Moore, of Forrester Green in Colerne, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Vivaro along County Road on February 28, 2023 when he did not have proper control of the vehicle because he had a mobile phone in his hand.

The defendant received a £72 fine and three penalty points on his driving licence.

He must also pay £29 to fund victim services.

MARLBOROUGH: Natasha Matthews, of Stokehill in Hilperton, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Mokka along London Road in Marlborough at 45mph on February 11, 2023.

The road had a 30mph speed limit.

The defendant received a £72 fine and three penalty points on her driving licence.

She must also pay £29 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Charles Bodle, of Preston Lane in Lyneham, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot Boxer through Hook at more than 30mph on January 6, 2023.

The defendant received a £72 fine and three penalty points on his driving licence.

He must also pay £29 to fund victim services.

PURTON: Mahdi Mortazavi, of Ray Close, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 48-year-old changed to his plea to guilty in regard to a charge that alleged he drove a Ford Focus along Cricklade Road in Swindon on August 9, 2023, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £162, and ordered to pay £300 in court costs as well as £65 to fund victim services.
