A Swindon woman has been sentenced for committing 11 speeding offences in five months.

Magistrates appeared at Avon and Somerset Magistrates Court banned Hannah Brinkman, of Monkton Road, from driving after she was repeatedly caught going above the speed limit at the same location – the Severn Beach Rail Line overbridge to the end of the M32 southbound.

This route through Bristol has a maximum permitted speed of 40mph but the 26-year-old drove along it at 46mph on August 6, 47mph on August 4, 48mph on May 21, 50mph on July 24 and August 8, 51mph on March 15 and April 11,  55mph on May 20, and at 57mph on April 5, 2023.

Brinkman also admitted to using the same vehicle to drive at speeds of 57mph in a 50mph zone of the M4 eastbound between Junctions 19 and 20 on May 25, and speeding at 51mph in a 40mph zone of the A4320 Easton Way near the junction with Stapleton Road on August 18.

The defendant pleaded guilty to a total of 11 charges through a single justice procedure on October 30.

Altogether, she has been fined £207, banned from driving for six months, and ordered to pay £95 in court costs plus £83 to fund victim services.
