The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this month.

MOTORWAY: Ajay Ram, of Waltham Road in Southall, London, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Smart Car along the M4 near Swindon on October 31 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 18 months, fined £100, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

STRATTON: Tyler Brown, of Ermin Street, has been sentenced for contravening a closure order.

The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to entering a flat on Frank Warman Court on August 3 without reasonable excuse when the premises had a closure order in place on it.

He has been fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

SWINDON: Valmir Campanha, of Redcliffe Street, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 38-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle along Bath Road on October 30 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in their breath, namely 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 17 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £48 to fund victim services.

LIDEN: Yan Alves, of Okebourne Park, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio along Fleming Way on October 30 after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in their breath, namely 79 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 17 months, fined £300, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £120 to fund victim services.

HAYDON WICK: Mihai-Bogdan Buruiana, of Shipley Drive, has been sentenced for theft.

The 23-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to two counts of theft from a shop and one count of going equipped for theft.

He stole Camo Trek boots worth £95 from Go Outdoors in Swindon on October 25, then returned to the shop on October 28 to steal another pair of the same brand of boots.

Then, on October 29, he was found to have a de-tagging device in his possession while at the Oxford Road shop.

He must pay back £190 in compensation and a fine of £1,083, as well as £85 in court costs and £433 to fund victim services.

CHISELDON: James Parmenter, of Castle View Road, has avoided jail for having a knife in public.

The 44-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to having a four-inch lock knife in his possession while out in Swindon on September 9.

He received a four-month jail sentence which has been suspended for 12 months, and must attend up to 15 rehab activity days, and pay £85 in court costs plus £154 to fund victim services.

The bladed weapon has been forfeited and destroyed.

FERNDALE: Sioban Lee, of Ferndale Road, has been sentenced for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to four counts of the same charge, which related to incidents at Gablecross Police Station and Bourne Road in Moredon on August 5 and , where the defendant directed homophobic abuse at four police officers.

She received a community order that requires her to carry out six months of alcohol treatment, 80 hours of unpaid work, and up to 15 rehab activity days, and pay £114 to fund victim services.
