The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court this month.

TADPOLE GARDEN VILLAGE: Sharon Rees, of Toynbee Avenue, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a woman in Swindon on June 23, 2023. She must pay £50 in compensation. There was no order to pay court costs due to her lack of means.

TOWN CENTRE: James Draper, of Harding Street, has been sentenced for four offences.

The 42-year-old admitted to assaulting a man in Swindon on April 12, 2022, possessing a cheese knife while in public on June 4, 2022, possessing cocaine on September 3, 2023, and using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause another person distress on May 9, 2023.

He has been fined £120, ordered to pay £114 to fund victim services, and given a community order that requires him to carry out up to 20 rehab activity days and 19 days of the Thinking Skills programme.

The Class A drug has been forfeited and destroyed.

STRATTON ST MARGARET: Sean Dickinson, of Bunce Road, has pleaded guilty to criminal damage.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to damaging a door on November 22, 2022, and a lift door on September 24 and October 11, 2022 at a Sovereign Housing Association property in Swindon.

The defendant received a community order that requires him to carry out six months of alcohol treatment and up to five rehab activity days.

SWINDON: William McDonnell, of Waggoner Close, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 54-year-old was convicted of driving between Junctions 16 and 17 Southbound of the M5 at more than 70mph on April 8, 2022.

He received a £100 fine and three penalty points on his driving licence, and must also pay £40 to fund victim services.

TOWN CENTRE: Suzanne Tayler, of County Road, has been sentenced for burglary.

The 34-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to trespassing inside Recanto Restaurant on October 26, 2023, and stealing some money.

She has received a community order that requires her to carry out up to 15 rehab activity days.

CRICKLADE: Natasha Milican-Lee, of Cherry Tree Road, has been sentenced for an offence.

The 33-year-old had the charge proved in absence which related to her having a vehicle registered in her name which did not meet the insurance requirements of the 1988 Road Traffic Act on September 16, 2022.

She has been fined £150 and ordered to pay £200 in court costs as well as £60 to fund victim services.

MALMESBURY: A 17-year-old from Hullavington has been sentenced for criminal damage.

The defendant, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, indicated a plea of guilty to causing £1,960.24 worth of damage to four bins at Malmesbury School on June 27, 2023.

He must pay £100 in compensation.

CORSHAM: Sean Newbury, of Park Lane in Corsham, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man in Corsham on June 15, 2023.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, and pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

TROWBRIDGE: Naomi Burke, of Manor Road, has been sentenced for failing to provide a specimen for analysis to police.

The 39-year-old changed her plea from not guilty to guilty about the charge, which relates to an incident in Swindon on August 21, 2023.

She has been fined £80, ordered to pay £50 in court costs and £36 to fund victim services, and given 10 penalty points on her driving licence.
