A Wiltshire wildlife charity has had around £1,000 worth of binoculars stolen.
The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust had the equipment taken from the education store at the Trust’s Langford Lakes nature reserve in South Wiltshire this week.
Now the charity is appealing to members of the public to donate any spare binoculars for educational sessions with children.
Gail Grimes, youth education and wellbeing manager at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, said: “Sadly, our education store at Langford Lakes was broken into at the weekend and all of the binoculars used for school groups and Wildlife Watch groups for children who regularly visit Langford Lakes have been stolen.
“The children love spotting and identifying wildlife during these sessions and it is one of the most popular activities that we run.
“If you have an old pair of binoculars suitable for children at home, any donations would be gratefully received.”
There will be collection points at three locations for people to donate binoculars.
These included Brockbank Nature Centre at Langford Lakes Nature Reserve, Dragonfly Café at Lower Moor Nature Reserve, Cricklade and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust Head Office.
