Christmas has officially arrived in Swindon, with a huge tree and lights now on show in the town centre.
It was a group effort to bring the festivities to Swindon, with Charlton Park Estate donating the tree before Fleming Way contractor Colas delivered it to council workers to install it.
Alongside the tree, which was picked by Wyvern Theatre and NSPCC, the decorations have been paid for by landlords in the town centre including The Parade and FI Real Estate.
Councillor Jim Grant, cabinet member for communities, said: “We’re extremely proud of how partners involved with the town centre have pulled together to get the decorations up, following the closure of inSwindon earlier this year.
“It was a big joint-effort, not only from council officers, but also teams at the Wyvern Theatre, NSPCC, Colas and landlords in the area including FI Real Estate and The Parade.
“It shows what can be done when everyone works together. The donation from Charlton Park Estate is a great advertisement of Christmas spirit in action.
“During the festive season, it’s important we all support our town centre and shop local.
“If we don’t utilise the shops, cafes and experiences that are in the area, we may lose them for good.”
