LIVE UPDATES: Police descend on Park North after stabbing
A man in his 20s has reportedly suffered knife injuries in a serious assault, Wiltshire Police said on Thursday.
The victim’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
At around 9.30pm, police suggested that the cordon near Malmesbury Gardens was likely to remain in place throughout the night.
A spokesperson said: "Officers are currently carrying out extensive enquiries into the assault and residents are likely to see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate.”
Five police cars and a forensic investigation van were at the scene.
The cordoned-off area prevented pedestrians and motorists from using the section of the street near the junction with Malmesbury Gardens.
As of 9am on Friday morning, the cordon had been removed and traffic was flowing along the avenue as normal.
Police are continuing to investigate.
