The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.

A419: Billy Torrington, of Coleshill Drive in Bristol, has been sentenced for driving without insurance.

The 24-year-old used a Renault Megane on the A419 in Swindon on January 3, 2022, without having a valid policy in place.

He has been banned from driving for six months due to repeat offending and must pay a £123 fine as well as £90 in court costs plus £34 to fund victim services.

STRATTON ST MARGARET: Tayyab Mahmood, of Meadowcroft, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 18-year-old changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in relation to a charge alleging that he drove a Ford Focus along Great Western Way at more than 30mph on March 19, 2023.

He received four penalty points on his driving licence and must pay an £80 fine as well as £90 in court costs and £32 to fund victim services.

ABBEY MEADS: Paulo Da Silva, of Gaynor Close, has been sentenced for driving without insurance.

The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge, which relates to an offence committed in a Vauxhall Corsa on Wheeler Avenue on June 26, 2023.

He has been fined £433, received six penalty points on his driving licence, and must pay £90 in court costs and £173 to fund victim services.

HIGHWORTH: Kerry Cope, of Swindon Street, has been sentenced for driving without insurance.

The 49-year-old entered no plea to the charge but was later found guilty of using a Fiat Doblo on Fitzgerold Avenue on June 2, 2023, without a valid policy in place.

She received six penalty points on her licence along with a £660 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs as well as £264 to fund victim services.

COVINGHAM: Celvin Youens, of Elver Close, has ben sentenced for stalking without fear, alarm or distress.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the stalking of a woman in Swindon between March 6 and April 18, 2023, while knowing it would harass her.

He has been fined £60, ordered to pay £114 to fund victim services and, given a community order that requires him to carry out 19 days of a Building Better Relationships course and up to 15 rehab activity days.

The defendant also received a restraining order that bans him from contacting his victim and another woman.

CHIPPENHAM: Byronn Plumb, of Harvest Place, has been sentenced for common assault of an emergency worker.

The 34-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to hitting a police officer in Swindon on October 11, 2023.

The defendant received a community order with six months of alcohol treatment and up to 20 rehab activity days, and must also pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

PEWSEY: Natasha Wall, of High Street, has been sentenced for driving without a licence.

The 26-year-old drove a Ford Transit along the High Street in Pewsey on January 13, 2023 without having a licence authorising her to drive a motor vehicle of that class, and without registration marks being fixed to the front and rear of the vehicle.

She received six penalty points on her driving licence and must pay a £220 fine along with £90 in court costs plus £88 to fund victim services.

CHIPPENHAM: Hilmus Alexander, of Town Close in St Michaels, has been sentenced for using tinted windows on his car.

The 48-year-old drove a Mercedes Benz s350 along Malmesbury Road on October 25, 2022, and its use involved the danger of injury to a person because of the amount of tint on the windows.

He received three penalty points on his driving licence and must pay a £440 fine along with £90 in court costs plus £176 to fund victim services.
