Members of the public rushed to attempt to save the life of an unresponsive man who was found early on Wednesday morning.

The man, in his 50s, was found unresponsive at around 6.30am on March close in Abbey Meads.

Wiltshire Police described it as a non-suspicious sudden death.

The force added that members of the public came to his aid, as well as the emergency services.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “This relates to a non-suspicious sudden death in which a man in his 50s was found to be unresponsive in March Close, Swindon at about 6.30am this morning (November 29).

“Despite the best efforts of members of the public who came to his aid and emergency services, he sadly died.

“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A crew from Stratton attended March Close, Abbey Meads at 6.42am this morning (29 November) at the request of the ambulance service, who needed some scene lighting.

"Firefighters supported paramedics until our stop at 7.13am.

A spokesperson for the Southwestern Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 6.24am on Wednesday, November 29 to an incident on March Close, Swindon.

“We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer.”
