Shoppers in Royal Wootton Bassett can enjoy festive fun in the High Street on Friday at the Christmas lights switch-on.

The annual Christmas Lights Evening returns from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on December 1, with more than 50 stalls and food vendors, live music, entertainment, and other attractions.

Santa has set up a grotto outside the Post Office to meet visitors, with a magician and brass band keeping the queue of people entertained.

The big switch-on will happen at 6pm, with the mayor, deputy mayor, and town crier for Royal Wootton Bassett attending along with the winner of the mayor’s Christmas card competition.

Scarrotts Fairground rides will fill the High Street, a Kaya Drum workshop will be held outside Hoth Kitchens, the Cantanti Choir and Sparkly Singers will perform outside Iceland, a Rise Trust graffiti wall will be set up near Awdry Law, an LED juggler will roam around, and emergency service vehicles will be parked near the Coxstalls entrance.

The High Street will be closed to traffic from the Coxstalls Roundabout to a point near the Town Hall at the junction with Station Road from 2pm to 10pm.
