Police have arrested two suspects in Swindon after a woman was hospitalised in an aggravated burglary.

The incident happened at 1.05pm when two men entered a property on Verwood Close, Park North, on Wednesday, November 29.

The female victim, who is in her 30s, was assaulted and she currently remains in hospital.

The pair then searched the house and stole personal items before fleeing.

Following local enquiries by officers and reports from members of the public, the two suspects were located at a nearby address and arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The men, both in their 20s, remain in custody for questioning.

Investigating officer DS Rob Prout from the force’s dedicated burglary team said: “This brazen offence was committed in broad daylight, leaving the victim requiring hospital treatment.

“Following swift work from officers and reports from members of the public, we have arrested two men on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

“We understand how traumatic burglaries can be so that’s why it is a force priority and we have dedicated teams to tackle it.”

An ambulance was sent to the address to treat the woman’s injuries and take her to the hospital from the scene.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 1.11pm on Wednesday, November 29 to an incident in Swindon.

“We sent a double-crewed land ambulance and an operations officer and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Great Western Hospital.”
