A Swindon branch of a popular pizza chain has been given the top food hygiene rating following an inspection.
Papa Johns on Moredon Road, Moredon, gained a five-out-of-five score after being visited on Wednesday, October 25.
Swindon Borough Council’s Environmental Health team found the well-known brand to be of a 'very good' standard in several key areas.
One of these sections which was attributed with 'very good' by inspectors was Papa John’s hygienic food handling.
This refers to the hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
Inspectors also found the Swindon branch’s management of food safety to be to a 'very good' standard as well.
This concerns having a system or checks in place at the eatery to ensure that the food sold or served is safe to eat.
It also means that evidence exists that staff know about food safety and that the inspector has confidence that standards will be maintained.
The pizzeria’s cleanliness and condition of its facilities and building were rated somewhat lower but still classed as 'good'.
This section refers to having the appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
The Moredon store is Swindon’s second Papa John’s branch with another on Victoria Road, Old Town which scored five back in June.
