The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court this week.

KINGSHILL: Glen Rodrigues, of William Street, has been sentenced for having an imitation firearm in public.

The 23-year-old pleaded not guilty but was later found guilty of having a blue handgun without lawful authority or reasonable excuse in Swindon on March 22, 2023.

He has been fined £250, had the imitation weapon taken off him, and ordered to pay £620 in court costs as well as £100 to fund victim services.

MARLBOROUGH: Wayne Fenn, of Long Close in Oxford, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.

The 44-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to stealing 43 bottles of alcohol worth £1,676 altogether from the Marlborough Waitrose on July 15, 2023.

He has been banned from the store for 12 months.

PENHILL: Thomas Hunter, of Pewsham Road, has been sentenced for two offences.

The 50-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter along Prospect Place without due care and attention on May 19, 2023, then failing to report an accident he had been involved in – crashing into a car park wall – to police within 24 hours of it happening.

He received a £100 fine and five penalty points on his driving licence, and has bene ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £40 to fund victim services.

OLD TOWN: Anca Bulencea, of Victoria Road, has been sentenced for theft.

The 33-year-old stole goods worth £324 from Marks and Spencer in Swindon on September 2, 2023.

She received a community order that requires her to carry out up to rehabilitation activity days, with no order to pay court costs.

CHIPPENHAM: Shaun Coates, of Rotten Row in Newton, Sudbury, has been sentenced for criminal damage.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to causing £516 to the driver’s door of a man’s Audi A5 in Chippenham on August 13, 2022.

He must pay £516 in compensation and has been discharged conditionally for six months.

SWINDON: Florin Sava, of Hay Lane in Old Town, London, has been sentenced for a driving-related offence.

The 40-year-old pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath sample when required to police during the course of an investigation into whether the driver had committed an offence after driving in Swindon on December 1, 2023.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 12 weeks, fined £50, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £20 to fund victim services.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: Thomas Beard, of Gainsborough Avenue, has been sentenced for dangerous driving.

The 19-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to driving a BMW Z4 dangerously along Bridge End Road in Swindon on July 28, 2023.

He has been banned from driving for 18 months and must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

HAYDON END: Buster Plumb, of Mazurek Way, has been sentenced for criminal damage and possession of Class B drugs.

The 21-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to causing £7,00 worth of damage to a man's awning in Swindon and having cannabis on November 16, 2023.

He has been fined £70 and ordered to pay £28 to fund victim services.

The illegal substance has been forfeited and destroyed. 

SWINDON: Byron Dudziak, of Mildenhall Way, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to being behind the wheel of a Vauxhall Insignia on Downton Road in Penhill on November 17, 2023, after drinking so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has lost his driving licence for 36 months, fined £400, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £160 to fund victim services.
