A popular Christmas market held at a local Swindon brewery returned over the weekend bigger and better than ever.
Arkell's festive-filled market took place at their Kingsdown Brewery on Saturday from 10am to 2pm and saw huge crowds turn out to get in the Christmas spirit.
The market is held on the second Saturday in December every year, and takes place in the grounds of the Victorian steam brewery.
It has quickly become a key part of Swindon's festive calendar as it brings together the comfort of a cosy Christmas market with a unique opportunity to get inside the gates and view the historic site.
“So many people wonder what is beyond the brewery gates and this is a perfect opportunity to come and see this notorious building in the town," said events co-ordinator Lesley Dicks.
This year, more than 40 local and regional food and craft stalls were on display, selling gifts for all the family such as jewellery, cakes, fudge, candles, chutneys and pet treats.
On a cold, windy day in Swindon, visitors were kept warm by food stalls selling traditional bratwurst sausages along with hot chocolate, mulled wine and Arkell’s seasonal favourite, Sir Noel Ale.
The 'Festive Jazz Band' and local choir 'Everybody Sing' kept spirits high, while Father Christmas's reindeer and the main man himself were kept busy meeting the children of Swindon.
“We love having the opportunity to welcome our local community through the gates of the brewery," added head brewer Alex Arkells.
“It’s wonderful to see everyone getting into the festive spirit in the run-up to Christmas.”
