An early morning bus journey took an unexpected turn when the Stagecoach driver travelled onto a public footpath.
A dogwalker in Taw Hill was left confused on Saturday when he spotted a double-decker bus parked on the old Haydon lane at Haydon End between Torun Way and Queen Elizabeth Drive at around 7am.
The signs on the bus suggested that it was on the way to or from the Amazon warehouse but had ended up blocking the pedestrian footway.
The bus appeared to be empty at the time but had its lights and windscreen wipers on.
Stagecoach West confirmed that they are investigating the mistake and that all passengers on board safely arrived at their stops afterwards.
Stagecoach West’s managing director, Rachel Geliamassi, said: “Whilst we can confirm that one of our long-serving Swindon drivers mistakenly took a wrong turn onto Torun Way over the weekend, we are pleased to report that our passengers were safe onboard and successfully made it to their destinations.
“We are confident that this was an isolated incident and are in the process of establishing how it occurred given the driver's familiarity with the route."
