Teenagers in Swindon could get the experience of a lifetime, as a new group promises caving, zorbing and more.
Blunsdon St Andrew’s brand new Explorer Scout Unit will open on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, to boys and girls aged 14-17, and will run every Tuesday at 8pm.
Part of the Scouting family, some of the fun activities you can look to take on as an Explorer include abseiling, caving, drama, paddle boarding, cooking, and more.
The group is a great way for young people to try new experiences while learning skills along the way and making friends for life.
Unlike Scouts, Explorers are given more freedom and responsibility to design their own programme and have their say in what they want to do.
“The reason we are opening an Explorer Unit is due to the increased retention at Scouts age (boys and girls aged 10 to 14),” explained Anne, a volunteer.
“It’s also because young people who have not been involved in Scouts seeing what we do and the skills we learn and are asking to join.”
If you are aged 14-17 and would like to join, or are aged over 18 and are looking to volunteer, you should contact Colin on colinhallmk@hotmail.com to find out more.
