Armed police officers descended on a Wiltshire village as a dead body was found nearby.
The callout came at around 5pm on Thursday at Grittleton, near Chippenham, when Wiltshire Police received reports concerning the welfare of a man.
Firearms officers were seen in the village throughout the evening, with the police helicopter also deployed.
In a statement on Friday morning, the force confirmed that a man was found deceased in the area, but officers do not believe his death to be suspicious.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called regarding a concern for the welfare of a man in Grittleton near Chippenham at approximately 5pm yesterday evening.
“Officers attended the scene with the assistance from NPAS and sadly, a man was found deceased in the area a short time later. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
“We do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
