Police officers were left smelling of faeces after a man allegedly sprayed a substance over them at a car meet.
The man, who is from Didcot in Oxfordshire, has now been arrested after the incident which took place at a car meet on the Hawksworth Industrial Estate in Swindon on September 30.
He remains in police custody.
It is alleged he sprayed an unknown substance at officers policing the event, causing their uniform to smell of faeces.
As a result, these uniforms had to be discarded.
Superintendent Guy Elkins said: “We will not hesitate to deal robustly with anyone suspected of such a crime directed at police officers in the course of their duty.
“Such behaviour is entirely unacceptable and we will ensure that such offenders are identified and face the full force of the law.
“I would like to thank members of the public for their support in identifying the suspect in this case.”
