A short film shot in Wiltshire by a local director has won big at a national awards ceremony.

Confines, a film by Emmy-nominated director and ex-Disney animator Richard Bazley, was shot mostly in Corsham and Box at the end of 2022.

A number of recognisable locations from both places were featured in the project, including the historic Corsham Court and the Grade II listed Blind House in Box.

Now the film has scooped several prizes at the I AM Film Festival in London, including Best Cinematography, and honourable mentions in the Best Director and Best Actor categories.

Mr Bazley, who lives in Box, said: “I often walk past The Blind House which is normally locked but on occasion is open to the public.

“It got me thinking about confinement, not just physical confinement but how we are often prisoners of our own mind.

“One of my favourite Directors Stanley Kubrick shot key scenes for ‘Barry Lyndon’ in Corsham Estate also, which is stunning I should add.”

Confines follows the success of the director’s previous work, Censure, and the two films have won over 50 awards combined.

It stars Luke Dejahang, who has previously featured in Grange Hill, Holby City and The Bill, and Vivien Taylor.
