Police seized a car after the suspects allegedly pursued another driver who reported them.
Following an incident in Box which was attended by Wiltshire Police officers, the suspect vehicle followed the vehicle that had reported them in the first place to Corsham.
After entering Pickwick Road, the vehicle drove past the police team and evaded them initially.
But it was then found parked in Arnolds Mead with the driver having fled.
The white Mercedes-Benz was seized by officers after it was found to be without road tax.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “The investigation into what occurred will continue.
“Point to note. If you are going to come to our attention with the use of your vehicle, make sure it has road tax.
“We know who drives the vehicle and they attempted to return and collect their vehicle but left again when they saw us, so we doubt they will be reporting it stolen.”
