Two people were threatened and then allegedly robbed by a group of people in a car.
The suspected robbery occurred at around 11.30pm on Thursday, January 4, in Woodsman Road, Abbey Meads.
A man and woman were threatened by the occupants of a car who allegedly stole a bag from them say Wiltshire Police.
The force is now asking for any potential witnesses of the alleged incident to come forward and speak to them.
Detective Sergeant Emma Kinderman said: “This concerning incident took place in a residential street and is likely to have been seen by a number of people in the area.
“We would urge anyone who saw what happened to contact us at the earliest opportunity.”
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police added: “Anyone who saw what took place or who may have dash cam footage taken from the area at the time is asked to call us on 101 quoting log 54240001475.
“You can also give information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
