A food counter inside a Swindon supermarket has now undergone a hygiene inspection.
Panku Streetfood is located within the Asda superstore at the Orbital Shopping Centre and serves sushi.
It attained top marks following an inspection on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
The five-out-of-five report stated the hygienic handling of food was “very good”, referring to the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food.
Both the cleanliness and condition of Panku Streetfood’s facilities and building were adjudged to be “good” by inspectors.
This relates to having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
Panku Streetfood’s management of food safety was deemed to be “very good” which refers to having a system in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.
It also covers if staff know about food safety and if the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
The supermarket itself was handed a zero-out-of-five hygiene rating following an inspection on October 10, 2023.
Inspectors deemed that urgent improvement was needed, saying that staff were not managing the safety of products effectively.
This score was improved to a three-out-of-five on November 20, 2023, following a second visit.
