A grocery shop has become the only business in Swindon to possess a zero hygiene rating following a damming report.
India Bazzar Super Market on Broad Street earned the bottom score after being inspected on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
Swindon Borough Council’s Environmental Health team found the premises to be in need of change with “urgent improvement” deemed necessary.
Inspectors viewed the shop’s hygienic handling of food to require “urgent improvement” after visiting in November.
This refers to the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of the food sold at the business.
The report found the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building to also be in severe requirement of “urgent improvement”.
This regards having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.
India Bazzar Super Market’s management of food safety which refers to having a system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat was deemed the same as the rest.
This also means if there is evidence that staff know about food safety and whether the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
The Adver has approached India Bazzar Super Market for comment.
