The main entrance to Swindon Railway Station has reopened after weeks of being closed.
There are three points of entry to the town’s station with two openings at the front and an additional third to the side, close to Costa Coffee.
Of these, the entrance on the right is the busiest due to its closer proximity to the barriers and passageways to platforms.
This key entrance and exit has been shut off for weeks however with travellers left in the dark as to why.
Cones could be seen placed on the inside of the door, blocking access to it, from as early as Monday, January 1.
It is unclear for how long these cones were in place prior to New Year’s Day but they have remained there since.
The electronic sliding door was broken and would not slide open or closed with the problem understood to have been caused by a control gear which has now been replaced.
A spokesperson for Great Western Railway said: "We are pleased to say that after a number of weeks our contractors have been able to repair the door and have it reopened.
“Access was maintained by the adjacent door while the fault was fixed."
The problem was fixed at 3pm on Thursday with the main entrance now open again.
