A country pub which recently closed its doors is sorely missed by customers living in the community.
The Harrow in Wanborough closed its doors yet again on New Year's Day.
The pub’s landlord, Sanjay Dogra took over the pub along the village's High Street in April 2022.
Many locals were disappointed to learn the historic pub would close after only being open for 18 months under the new management.
One punter Helen Bonnetti, 53 said: “I think it had a lot to offer and was quite different to some of the other pubs.
"They had lots of events and tried really hard, and I think it’s a shame that it has closed but hopefully it will be a good opportunity for someone else to give it a go.
“I think the Harrow needs to decide on its identity and look at all the other pubs in the area.”
Another customer Sam Crossley, 19 said: “It is a shame because it is the first pub I went to after I turned 18 and it is the first pub I went to regularly.
“I quite liked it compared to the other pubs because of its pool table and dart board and having the cheapest cider in the village.
“Sanjay was a great person to have as a landlord.
“It was great that you could go down and there was always somebody to chat to.
“It is a shame because I feel like if they had of stayed open for another year, it would have picked up."
One customer, aged 18, who asked not to be named, said: “It was a great pub.
"I went there with a lot of friends and you would essentially be able to have a bit of your own space and social atmosphere with locals.
“Sanjay will definitely be missed because he was such a social person.
“We got to know him well and had jokes and it was a lot of fun.
“It will definitely be a big hit to the village.
“I am going to miss there being a nice place to play pool and have a drink with friends.”
Mr Dogra took charge of The Harrow Inn in Wanborough in April 2022.
He had began his career as a chef by working at restaurants in Dubai and the Maldives before heading to the UK and settling in Swindon.
Mr Dogra said: "It is sad to say goodbye to everyone.
"The Wanborough locals really helped me out and accepted me into the village. I am sad to say that I’m leaving this place."
