A local Swindon lad has reached the final of BBC’s hit television series Young MasterChef.
Lewis Gibson from Penhill has had a passion for cooking throughout his life growing up in the town leading to him star on the show.
The series commenced on Monday, January 8 and is now at the final stage following a tense semi-final aired this week.
After cooking a variety of dishes including a croquembouche wish impressed the judges, Lewis reached the final of the competition.
“I feel amazing, I feel so good,” said Lewis after qualifying for the final round.
“The fact that we’re just literally a couple of plates of food away from that trophy is immense.
“I need a sit-down and a pint to get my head around it.”
The 22-year-old previously stated that he was proud to represent Swindon on television, relishing the Young MasterChef experience.
“It’s Penhill in Swindon that I’d call home as I’ve lived there for years,” said Lewis.
“Each time I come back to see my family or have a few pints with my mates in The Leap, it’s like coming back to my roots.
“And now we’re here. Penhill on the telly.”
The final of the competition will be broadcast at 8pm on Monday, February 5.
