Motorists travelling through Wanborough are being forced to take a major diversion due to the closure of a small stretch of road.
A section of Ham Road near to the Bewley Homes Development in Wanborough will be closed by Swindon Borough Council from Monday, February 12 until midnight on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
This is so that contractors can install a new manhole and pipework joining into existing storm drains and then connecting to the new builds at Bewley Homes.
Although only a short section of the road has been closed, this is causing big disruption for motorists travelling in and out of Wanborough via Liddington.
Vehicles are being diverted along Church Rod and Callas Hill, down to the junction at Foxhill, and then along The Ridgeway and back up a small unnamed road.
The diversion route will also put increased pressure on the roads around Foxhill, particularly Wanborough High Street which joins onto the diversion route.
Although disruption has been minimised as much as possible, motorists travelling in this area of Swindon between Monday, February 12 and Sunday, February 18 should expect a longer journey time.
