The listed Oasis Leisure Centre dome is now off-limits after barbed wire fencing was put up around it.

Members of the Save Oasis Swindon campaign spotted the addition to the Grade II-listed dome after a recent visit to the North Star site.

They posted a picture onto Twitter and said: "Barbed wire on the roof now. Looking more like Fort Knox."

It is not known exactly when the deterrent was added to the dome, but the move does follow reports of members of the public climbing up the glass roof to the old Lagoon Pool.

In August 2022, a security guard posted at the site revealed that he had on more than one occasion caught children climbing on the structure - which is made entirely out of separate glass panels.

In May 2023, it was revealed that people were scaling the dome in order to get access to the roof of the whole site and it was alleged that people were having 'parties' inside the sports hall.

Wiltshire Police was contacted for comment and the force was unable to confirm any parties at the site.
