A Swindon window company going from strength to strength has opened its first showroom in the town - and hopes to take advantage of the bad traffic.

Mark Coates, Shane Thompson and Jake Stratford started NexGen Windows, a double-glazing company, just after the Covid-19 pandemic with the hope of revolutionising window fitting.

The three owners, who all met when working at Safestyle UK, felt that window sales and fitting could be done differently and so set about starting a rival business.

“I was the manager at SafeStyle for a while and Shane and Jake worked in sales," explained Mark.

"There were a few times where we felt that things we thought they didn’t do as well as could be and we talked about launching a new business. So after Covid was the perfect time to do it really."

After years of winning awards and growing as a company, owner Mark Coates now hopes that he can utilise Swindon's bad traffic to build his window business.

“We weren’t originally looking to open a showroom," Mark explained.

"I was stuck in traffic outside on Cricklade Road one day and I saw the place and saw it was to let.

"There’s always traffic out there on that bit of road and so I just thought that if I was stuck there and spotted the place then other people might do the same."

NexGen Windows has built up a great relationship with its customers over the years, but it isn't just locals on the street singing the company's praises.

Mark, Shane and Jake's company has been named the back-to-back winner of the Prestige Award for Window Supplier for two years running.

"It definitely helps our company because it shows to our customers that we are reliable and trustworthy," he added.

“We have been trading out of an office in Cheney Manor for almost five years now.

"We have grown considerably over the five years and we just feel that we have outgrown the office so now it's really about being a presence where people can see us and making our good name more visible."

The new showroom, located on Cricklade Road, offers a base for NextGen Windows where customers are able to come in and speak in person to owner Jake Stratford who will be manning the site Monday to Saturday.

The showroom is placed next to a car park offering 90 minutes of free parking, and the business is offering a deal of 40 per cent off to the first 50 customers to visit.
