As an era spanning more than 110 years ends, a brand new one is set to begin as the former longstanding Co-op building will be reopening very soon.

The Co-op in Rodbourne Road closed its doors for good on February 3 after serving locals for more than a century much to the sadness of both staff and shoppers alike.

The building had been put up for sale by Midcounties Co-operative and had been purchased by new owners who intended to reopen it as a mini-supermarket.

The signage for Co-op was removed shortly after the closure on February 3, and the new owners, who the Advertiser understands will be opening a Nisa Local, have been hard at work getting the building ready.

Although photos taken of the store on Saturday, just two days before this opening, show more work needs to be done both inside and outside.

The new signage for the suspected Nisa needs to be put up, and some of the shelves need stocking inside.
