A Wiltshire road has been closed after heavy rain left it fully submerged by flood water.

The closure stretches from the bridge at Kellaways to Langley Burrell, just outside Chippenham.

The road which leads to Maud Heaths Causeway was pictured in a post on the Chippenham Police Facebook page. Only the raised pavement stands above the water.

A nearby field also appears to be flooded after more rain fell overnight from Saturday into Sunday.

Trains going through Swindon were affected by flooding and caused disruption to trains going to and from Bristol Parkway.

Rain is expected in Chippenham later on in the week with a chance of precipitation of over 95 per cent on Wednesday morning, February 21.
