A motorist on the M4 has been pulled over by police for driving with broken brakes on the 70mph road.
Wiltshire Police's Road Protection Unit were out patrolling the M4 on Tuesday, February 27, when officers spotted several motorists driving illegally.
Among those was the driver of a flatbed lorry, which had a trailer attached and two vehicles loaded, which was in an extremely dangerous condition, with snapped brake lines and suspension.
According to the Action Service Centre, snapped brake lines are rare but can be extremely dangerous as it makes it difficult to brake in an emergency.
"When the driver engages the handbrake, a snapped cable will result in no resistance, causing the car to move smoothly," a spokesperson said.
"It is a common symptom of a snapped handbrake and requires immediate replacement."
The vehicle was seized by Wiltshire Police road officers shortly after it was spotted.
"RPU on the lookout for those accidents literally waiting to happen," said a spokesperson for the policing team.
"Vehicle in a dangerous condition for snapped brake lines and suspension. DVSA en route to assist with impounding."
