The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this week.

TOWN CENTRE: Howard Foster, of Sheppard Street, has been sentenced for criminal damage.

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to causing £800 worth of damage to a door owned by Swindon Borough Council on January 11, 2024.

He must pay £200 in compensation.

PINEHURST: Andrew Hill, of Mulberry Grove, has been sentenced for criminal damage and breaching a non-molestation order.

The 41-year-old pleaded not guilty but was later found guilty of causing £200 worth of damage to a woman’s Ring Doorbell on January 25, 2002 damaging her vehicles on February 8, 2022, and damaging the same victim’s window on February 24, 2022.

Damaging that property broke a non-molestation order issued to him on February 17, 2022, as did making seven unwanted calls on March 1, 2022.

He received a 26-week prison sentence that has been suspended for 12 months and must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work as well as attend up to 20 rehabilitation activity days and pay £700 in compensation.

The defendant also received a restraining order that prevents him from contacting two women or going to an address.

SWINDON: Ryan Stacey, of Ramsey Avenue, has been sentenced for possessing Class B drugs and fraud by false representation.

The 25-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to having cannabis on him while in Swindon on April 18, 2023, and selling FIFA 23 and Minecraft videogames for the Nintendo Switch that belonged to a woman on the following day to get £25 for himself.

He has been conditionally discharged for 12 months and the illegal drug has been forfeited and destroyed.

PENHILL: Leon Vernon, of Somerford Close, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 34-year-old changed his plea to guilty regarding a charge of hitting a man in Swindon on June 25, 2023.

He must pay £200 in compensation to his victim.

PINEHURST: Rhys Cutler, of Poplar Avenue, has been sentenced for assault by beating.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a man in Swindon on July 19, 2023.

He must pay £100 in compensation to the victim and follow requirements of a community order which include 15 months of mental health treatment and up to 20 rehabilitation activity days.

CALNE: Jamie Knight, of Fair View Road in Wilton, has been sentenced for sending a threatening message.

The 36-year-old sent voice notes and a written electronic message which conveyed a threat to a woman in Calne on April 6, 2023.

He received a 12-week prison sentence which has been suspended for 18 months, and received a community order that requires him to carry out 19 days of a Thinking Skills programme and up to 15 rehabilitation activity days, and pay a £300 fine.

A restraining order is now in place that prevents him from contacting his victim for a year.

MARLBOROUGH: Royston Williams, of Cunetio Gardens in Marlborough, has been sentenced for a driving-related offence.

The 57-year-old pleaded not guilty but was later found guilty of failing when required by police in Swindon after March 27, 2023 to give information about the driver of a Ford Kuga Titanium who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence and a £682 fine, and must also pay £225 in court costs as well as £273 to fund victim services.
