A MAN has been arrested following a dramatic incident outside McDonald's in Cirencester last night.
Police were called to a report that a man had allegedly assaulted a woman before stealing her car in the fast-food chain's carpark in Cricklade Road, Cirencester at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, January 27.
Onlookers claim that he then proceeded to crash the car, flee the scene but was found by police officers nearby.
Police have confirmed that a taser was used to detain a man as he became violent.
A 34-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of five counts of assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was also arrested on suspicion of two counts of theft of a motor vehicle after it was identified that an additional two cars had been stolen with the owners also assaulted.
The suspect was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where he remains at this time.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed what happened or who has mobile phone footage to make contact.
