Swindon has a lot of popular places to live, but which roads are the most sought-after?
Estate agents at Richard James have named the most popular places to live in the Wiltshire town.
A spokesperson for the local firm spoke to its separate branches to see which areas were coming up the most for potential buyers.
They said: "Josh from our North Swindon branch said Tadpole [Garden Village] is very popular at the moment and about 50 per cent of his buyers are from out of the area, generally Bristol or Reading.
"The Old Town branch said that Badbury Park and East Wichel tend to be most popular with them and with people moving from out of the area
"Old Town SN1 tends to be more local people/first-time buyers.
"Finally, Grange Park tends to be quite popular as well as close to Lydiard Park but does tend to be more local people than out of the area."
Speaking on the town as a destination for homebuyers, Richard James said: "Reputations are hard to lose, and I’ve lost track of all the jokes I’ve heard about this town over the years.
"Some were funnier than others, but the reality is that the Swindon of today is very different to the one in which we opened our first office thirty years ago.
"'Swindon’s been good to me' is the phrase you’ll hear more often nowadays, it’s a phrase I hear time and time again, not only from people in business, but from colleagues, friends and families that all genuinely enjoy living or working in such a friendly, well connected and innovative town.
"Back in 1992 the UK was emerging from recession and a resilient Swindon was continuing to attract significant investment. Fast forward 30 years and we’re now recognised as one of the major road and rail crossroads of the UK.
"The Swindon of today continues to create great jobs and careers. Workshops of the past are being converted to provide retail, study and workspace of the future, ready for the next generation of entrepreneurs, experimenters, dreamers and doers.
"With thousands of affordable new homes being built here every year, it’s increasingly apparent why so many aspirational families and ambitious businesses are choosing our town for the next chapter in their life. If you’re looking to work, live, or invest in Swindon one thing is guaranteed. This town will grow on you."
